Staying locked inside your house will eventually get to you—no matter how of a misanthrope you are. Humans are social creatures, which means socialization is necessary for our well-being.

This can make staying home incredibly challenging, even though it is what’s best for our health right now.

Health experts, including the World Health Organization, have warned people of the importance of taking care of our mental health during the lockdown.

Letting anxiety and depression get the best of you during the lockdown can even make you more vulnerable to physical illnesses, which would put you at risk.

Here are some ways you can tackle loneliness during the lockdown:

Take Advantage of Technology

There’s a lot more you can do with your phone other than scrolling through Instagram or watching YouTube for hours.

For instance, use apps to be more productive with your time. Try listening to an audiobook or a podcast, or use a fitness app to get in shape.

The more you engage your mind, the less time it will have for negativity and destructive thoughts.

Speak To Your Loved Ones

Yes, we know you can like and share memes, but that’s not really communicating. If you aren’t the type to call someone, it’s time you give it a shot.

At a time where you can’t arrange to meet up with a loved one, you have to find ways to make up for the lack of socialization. The easiest way to do it is to get on a video call with people you love.

It’s not the same as them being physically there, but the interaction is still better than nothing. Remember, social distancing doesn’t mean emotional distancing

Find Your Community

The internet isn’t all bad; there are plenty of people out there who are willing to help others. Look for a support group that can help you get through this time. You can also find interest-based communities where you can connect with like-minded people.

See A Specialist That Can Help With Anxiety

If you feel like there isn’t anything you can do to keep your anxiety at bay, consider seeing an expert. You can opt for psychotherapy sessions on Skype/Zoom or visit our hypnotherapy center.
